Evening Programs Hours:
Monday -Thursday: 5:00pm-9:00pm
Adult education courses increase the literacy, English proficiency, and earning potential of trainees. Students develop speaking, listening, reading, writing and computer skills to communicate effectively in English within their workplaces, communities and families. Classes are offered daily, both in the morning and in the evening. Somali Success provides free transportation.
Citizenship and Civics Training
Somali Success prepares non-citizen residents for US citizenship. Trainees receive US citizenship application information, and Cultural Competencies. Civics Education includes content related to general civics knowledge and full participation in US society, culture and employment.
Somali Success provides outreach and support services aimed at stabilizing and improving the lives of new immigrants. Individuals receive personalized services that include securing affordable housing, gaining employment, and connections to resources, daily access to the computer lab, resource library, and transportation.
Somali Success provides customized training for employers and other community stakeholders to increase the cultural competency, community connections and inclusion of all residents of Hennepin County. Current and former training partners include Minneapolis Public Schools, Hennepin County Health and Human Services, Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU), and the Minnesota Office of Refugee Resettlement.
Family and Youth Services
Somali Success enrolls families with children in 8th grade and provides them with on-going support and education services until the child is well into their first year of college. Youth and their families receive one-on-one services from trusted adults to meet their academic, social and emotional needs. Services include mentoring, tutoring, enrichment activities, college entrance preparation and application assistance, and leadership development
